The Tyrone Police Dept has begun an official investigation of the misappropriated funds reported at the June 10 Council hearing according to a letter sent out by Chief Perkins on July 30. The Town Council had earlier tried to sweep the mess under the rug. Incredibly, the Council had decided to allow the citizens money to be taken without investigations until a citizen’s complaint was made to Police.

Lt. Gov.'s office to hold F'ville listening session

The office of Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle will hold a listening session for Fayette County residents on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the council chambers at Fayetteville City Hall, located at 240 S. Glynn Street.

Tyrone has a busy agenda Thursday

Residents should prepare for a long evening at Thursday night's Town Council meeting. Included on the agenda is discussion of a community sewer ordinance along with the elimination of impact fees for public safety, library and recreation projects.

PTCUMC to dedicate lodge this Sunday
Members of Peachtree City United Methodist Church will celebrate the opening of their new Scout Lodge at the church Sunday, Aug. 10 at 12:45 p.m. There will be a time of recognition during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services and the service of consecration will begin at 12:45 at the lodge, located in the lower parking lot to the right of the worship center, 225 Robinson Rd. The Peachtree City UMC is host to three Scout troops, two Cub Scout packs and 20 Girl Scout troops.

PTCUMC will offer GriefShare starting Aug. 23

Peachtree City United Methodist Church’s fall Grief Share group will begin Aug. 23 at the church, 225 Robinson Road, room 308. The 14-week class will meet every Thursday night from 6:30-8 p.m. and uses a video, workbook, and open discussion format. There is a fee of $15 which includes workbook (scholarships available).

On Aug. 19, Fayetteville First Baptist Church will begin a new session of GriefShare, a 13-week Bible based program for those who have lost a loved one. The class meets each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Each class begins with a video followed by group discussion.

She was preceded in death by per parents, Murray Lee and Odelle Yopp Mitchell, her husband, James Dudley Scott, a son, James Scott, a brother, Murray Lee Mitchell Jr., and sister, Flossie Mitchell.

The Rev. Robert M. Lloyd, 81, Rome, pastor of Tyrone Baptist Church in the 1970s, died July 27, 2008. He was born in Floyd County Feb.

Mary Winn Walton, 86, Peachtree City, died July 28, 2008. She was born July 26, 1922 in Towns, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby McGahee Winn, and her husband, Dean Harold Walton.
