Judge: guilty verdicts represent ‘death of a monster’

In all likelihood, Michael William Ellicott will spend the rest of his days in prison for brutally assaulting his wife in their Peachtree City home.

Peachtree City Mayor Harold Logsdon announced Saturday that he will be running for State Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner.

The announcement came in front of the Fayette County Republican Party, but Logsdon acknowledged it was not a well-kept secret.

Fayette County Water System has released a public notice indicating that the system was out of compliance for Total Organic Carbon (TOC) during the last quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009. System Director Tony Parrott said the compliance status poses no health hazard, adding that since the numbers are compiled on a quarterly basis for a one-year period the system is expected to return to compliance level status by the end of the year. Figures for April have returned to acceptable levels, Parrott said.

Police have now identified two Senoia men charged with robbing the United Community Bank on Ga. Highway 74 north after 2 p.m. Friday.

While other areas of metro Atlanta fared far worse, Fayette County dodged most of the wrath of an overnight storm system, officials reported.

A police chase that started in Senoia ended in Fayetteville Saturday evening, police said.

The pursuit began in Senoia when the car refused to stop after an officer attempted a traffic stop, said Fayette County Sheriff’s Lt. Belinda McCastle. Sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit after it entered Fayette, and Fayetteville police successfully used stop sticks to disable the vehicle’s tires, police said.

Two men were arrested this morning after an alert resident called 911 to report a burglary in progress in the Northridge subdivision in north Fayette County, officials said.
