| Sallie's column
brings back memories
I enjoyed [The Citizen columnist Sallie Satterthwaite's] reminiscence of Jim Hudson. He was a wonderful man, although one time I wanted to wring his neck. I had taken my two children with me to shop, and when we were back in the car I heard whispering in the back seat. When I asked what was going on, the oldest, John, told me his 4-year-old sister had a candy bar in her hand. I looked at Heather, she started to cry, and held up her hand with, yes, a candy bar, in it. We got out of the car and I marched her up to Mr. Jim and made her tell him what she had done. And what did Mr. Jim do? He gave her a hug, gave her back the candy bar, gave one to her brother, and got a ladder and took down a Cinderella display that had been hanging from the ceiling advertising something, rolled it up and gave it to her. I thought, "What kind of lesson is this?" However, she did get that lesson. Heather is now 27 years old, and still remembers Mr. Jim, and that day. Sheila Mulholland Peachtree City
