Local minister participates in service of 'Liturgy for the Pre-born' outside Atlanta abortion clinic Father David Epps, rector of Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Peachtree City, recently joined with clergy from around the state to conduct a Liturgy for the Pre-born in downtown Atlanta across the street from an abortion clinic. The service, led by the Right Rev. John Holloway, Bishop of the Diocese of Georgia for the CEC, was one of 40 held simultaneously throughout the United States the Saturday before Easter. "We were there to conduct a funeral service for the children who died in the clinic," Epps said, "to pronounce the blessing of the church upon these children and to ask for forgiveness for those who were performing the abortions." The sidewalk service was not without incident. Epps said that a deputy sheriff, hired by the clinic, informed the clergy that they would have to move their cars from the public parking lot or they would be towed. "When a representative of the group told him the cars were in a public lot and the parking fees had been paid, the deputy was not impressed," Epps said. Epps said after the officer was assured no public unrest was planned and the service would be short, he allowed the service to continue without interruption. "It was a day of profound sadness," Epps said. "Each day in America over 4,000 abortions are performed. We do not believe these children are just so much medical waste." |
