Flames turn hot at Georgia Games
The Fayette Flames summer youth track team brought back seven medals this past weekend after competing in the Georgia Games championship meet at Life University in Marietta. Many team members also turned in personal best times as they competed against some of the fastest youth athletes in the state. Rebecca Stokes took two gold medals, in the 3,000-meter (12:29) and 800-meter (2:42.34). James Mathis was silver medalist in running long jump, with 14'1-3/4", and Stokes took the 1,500M silver with a time of 5:42.76. Bronze medalists were Haley Smith, 1,500M, 7:15.42; David Mathis, running long jump, 11'5-3/4", and the 4X100M relay team of Vince Brown, Justin Davis, Jamahl Calloway and James Mathis, with a time of 56.74. Personal best times are marks were turned in by James Mathis, 400M, 1:06.34; Vincent Brown, 1,500M, 5:35.96; Mark Saporsky, 800M, 2:50.61; Wesley Smith, 1,500M, 8:19.65; Jason Bentley, shot put, 19'10-3/4"; Drake Osterhage, high jump, 4'5"; Michael Saporsky, running long jump, 9', and David Winston, running long jump, 9'7-1/2". The Flames conclude their summer track season at the Peachtree City Running Club championship races yesterday and today at McIntosh High School at 6 p.m. |
