New Hope, Chick-Fil-A, J.93, others join forces for 'Rock Week' activities

New Hope Baptist Church's North and South Campuses will host dinners all this week for the Starr's Mill and Fayette County high school football teams, cheerleading and majorette squads, flag corps, and band, as part of the "Rock Bowl Week" activities, culminating in the football game between Starr's Mill and Fayette County this Friday night and a community concert after the game.

Coaches, sponsoring faculty, and students will enjoy a week filled with fun, presentations, and entertainment.

"The 'Battle for the Rock' is more than just another great meeting of the Fayette County and Starr's Mill high school football teams on Nov. 8," a spokesperson said. "Thanks to Chick-Fil-A, radio station J93.3, other Fayette businesses and area churches, this year's game will feature student leadership training, special school dinners, scholarship presentations, and a free concert."

A select group of student leaders from both schools will attend a leadership training conference featuring executives from Chick-Fil-A's corporate headquarters including Chick-Fil-A President and CEO Dan Cathy. Students will receive training in leadership skills and have the opportunity to interact with top executives at Chick-Fil-A.

Just prior to the game, college scholarships will be awarded to students from both schools. During halftime activities, students will compete in the Touchdown Race for prizes.

Immediately following the game, the winning high school team will receive "The Rock," a trophy that not only will commemorate this first "Rock Bowl," but also will be shared in future years with the winning team of the annual high school rivalry.

The evening's activities will conclude with a free community concert with Ardent Records recording artists Brother's Keeper in the new Village's Amphitheatre across the street from the Fayette County High School stadium. The group will feature songs from their newest CD project entitled, "Cover Me."

Fayette businesses joining Chick-Fil-A and J93.3 to make Rock Bowl Week possible include Real Deal Student Ministries, Southeast Properties, Identity Promotions, and Printgrafix.
