Religion Briefs Bethany's Perlieu Stew event set for Saturday The annual making and selling of Bethany United Methodist Church's famous Perlieu Stew is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9, from 4-7 p.m. Plate prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children. Johnson to be guest speaker at Atlanta event The Rev. Edward J. Johnson, pastor of New Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church in Sharpsburg, will be the guest speaker at the Annual Thanksgiving Program of the South Atlanta District Lay Organization, Sunday, Nov. 10 at Flipper Temple A.M.E. Church, 580 Fair St. in Atlanta. The event will begin at 3 p.m.
SPRY luncheon meeting is Nov. 12 Senior Presbyterians Remaining Young (SPRY) of the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City will have a luncheon meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. The program will be in two parts. Prizes will be awarded in Katherine Creager's program, "Name that Tune," and Carl and Norma Deck will present a comedy, "Anguish Languish."The group welcomes persons age 50 and older. Those planning to attend the luncheon are asked to bring a covered dish. Schubert's Mass in G to be performed in PTC An ecumenical choir will offer Franz Schubert's Mass in G Saturday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. Claire Stroud, organist and director of music at Holy Trinity, will conduct. The choral work will include choir members from several Peachtree City churches, and will be accompanied by Kelly Plauché Whittier on the pipe organ. Others performing will include soprano soloist Cynthia Van Wert, tenor David Stivers and baritone Bill Killmeier. Holy Trinity is on the corner of Walt banks Road and Ga. Hwy. 54.
Holy Trinity will host vocal seminar Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will host a Vocal Freedom seminar Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 11 and 12, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Leading the event will be Ray Holcomb, a nationally known vocal clinician. The purpose is to help beginner through adult singers to improve their singing and speaking voice. Holcomb has taught in national, regional and local seminars across America since 1982. The fee is $25 for those preregistering, or $30 for those paying at the door. Seating is limited and preregistration is encouraged. Fayetteville Christian sets Friends and Family Day The Fayetteville Christian Church will have Friends and Family Day Sunday, Nov. 17, and encourage members to invite their friends who do not usually attend church. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and the annual Thanksgiving Dinner will follow the service. Fayetteville Christian is at New Hope and Hickory roads in Fayetteville.
