Volunteer firefighter expects no job with PTC department

Re: Sallie Satterthwaite's column in The Citizen March 5. Wonderful article! Thank you for your support. I just recently finished the six-month rookie school that you mentioned in your article.

Up until now, I've been a citizen of Peachtree City and was unaware of the protection our city lacks. It's amazing to me what our priorities are in this city and wonder what goes through the minds of our City Council members.

I'm currently a Peachtree City Fire Department volunteer firefighter and will start EMT school next week. I'll be finished in August [and] hope to get a job. I guess it won't be in PTC. So, therefore, I can't even technically help our community because I'll have to go elsewhere to land a full-time job in this field.

Again, I thank you for your support and pray that these facts will open the eyes of our fellow neighbors.

Ellen M. Schmieder
