Saturday, April 26, will be a good day for a walk.

That is when the March of Dimes will host its annual WalkAmerica event. There will be walks all around the nation, including several in Georgia. Walkers in the metro Atlanta area have a number or walks to choose from including one around Centennial Olympic Park, and one around Shakerag Knoll in Peachtree City.

WalkAmerica is a festive event with fabulous food, live music, and fun activities for both children and adults. It takes place in over 1,500 locations around the country each year on the same day, rain or shine.

This is WalkAmerica's 33 year of existence. Last year's walk around downtown Atlanta raised one million dollars and hopes to top that number this year. Georgia is one of the top March of Dimes chapters in the country raising $6.1 million last year and the most amazing part is that in Georgia, 88 cents of every dollar raised goes toward its mission of saving babies.

For more information on registering a team or yourself for the walk, visit www.walkamerica.org or phone the Metro Atlanta division at 404-350-9800.
