Open house April 28 for new Fayetteville Police headquartersLocal residents will get a chance to stroll through the Fayetteville Police Departments sprawling new facility during an open house April 28. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at 760 Jimmy Mayfield Blvd., and all are invited to tour the $4 million facility. The department moved into the facility Feb. 10, and officials have spent several weeks working out a few bugs with the computer system and adjusting to the new building. The facility has a larger evidence storage area, training room and records storage area. It also has two temporary holding cells, something the other facility did not have, Fayetteville Police Chief Johnny Roberts said in an earlier interview. The building is expected to alleviate office congestion at the police department, building department, Municipal Court, fire department and City Hall, officials said.
