net first PBAC player of the week
Last week, Clayton State junior Joya Collier was named
Peach Belt Athletic Conference player of the week. Collier is the
first Lady Laker to win the award since Clayton Sate became eligible
during the 1995-96 season. Collier averaged 16.3 points, 10.0
rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots in the three games played that
week. She recorded her third double-double of the season and the
11th of her career in the Lady Lakers win over West Georgia. Joya
leads the team in scoring (15.0 ppg), rebounding (9.6 rpg), and
blocked shots (16). Clayton State is 4-5 this season and travels
to Carrollton to face West Georgia on Dec. 30.
Fayette County
kicker awarded
scholarship
Michael Ruff, kicker for the Fayette County Tigers,
was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Texaco - Havoline.
The scholarship was awarded to student athletes who excelled on
the field as well as in the classroom. Michael has been accepted
to Georgia Tech and Wofford but will visit both Dartmouth
and Cornell before making a decision.
