Steve Hutton left the Lightning program in 1997 to serve as director of coaching for the Cobb Union Soccer Club. He has made his return to the Lightning Soccer Club official by accepting a position as director of player development.

As director of player development, Hutton will coach and train teams as well as coordinate recreational player clinics.

Hutton attended and played soccer at Maryville College and then Virgina Tech. He coached the women's soccer team at Virginia Tech for three years and then spent four years as a high school, youth club and olympic development coach in Virginia. He first joined the Lightning club in 1996 as a staff coach. He won a state championship that same year.
