Bad weather is the apparent cause of a crash that took the life of a Fayette County teenager last week. According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, the accident took place just before 5 p.m. Thursday on Bernhard Road near Carroll's Way during a heavy thunderstorm. Jason Scott Eutermoser, 16, of Peachtree City was driving a 1995 Toyota pickup truck westbound on Bernhard Road when he apparently hydroplaned and crossed over the center of the roadway into the path of another Toyota pickup, the report stated. Eutermoser was transported to Southern Regional Medical Center with severe internal injuries. The other vehicle was driven by Keith Franklin Dyer, 17, of Fayetteville, who received minor lacerations. He was not transported by authorities for medical attention, although he was checked out later at Fayette Community Hospital. The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles, according to the report, and both were apparently wearing their seat belts. Investigators were notified later Thursday evening that Eutermoser had died as a result of his injuries. The Sheriff's Department said that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, although blood samples are being submitted to the Georgia State Crime Lab, as is standard procedure in fatality accidents. Eutermoser is the fourth person to die in a traffic accident this year in unincorporated Fayette County.
