| Letter's
anti-Jewish charge was non sequitur I was flabbergasted that the writer of a recent letter to the editor expressed the opinion that [The Citizen's editor] Cal Beverly opposed Bruce Perlman's election to the Peachtree City Council because he was Jewish. What a non sequitur! The article doesn't say or imply anything about Dr. Perlman's ethnic background or religion. Shades of the accusation of anti-semitism against Dan Tennant, 0' he of the Jewish grandparents. It would make more sense to believe that Mr. Beverly harbors animosity toward doctors after all the good doctor references to the candidate in his editorial. Is Mr. Beverly prejudiced against doctors? I don't think so. He's very proud of his two children who are physicians. By the way, I have known Cal Beverly for 20 years, and I have never heard him express even a hint of an antiSemitic sentiment. But he does hold a very strong opinion that candidates for public office should be accountable to voters and be willing to be questioned by the press about their views and conduct on public issues.
