Lady Tigers fall to East Coweta

The Fayette County Lady Tigers lost to East Coweta Friday night and are 1-3 overall, but they aren't hanging their heads.

With only one senior on the squad, who transfered to Fayette County High from Eagle's Landing Christian Day School, the team is young and inexperienced. Though it is a rebuilding year of sorts for Coach Gene Mustain and the Lady Tigers, the team is upbeat and improving game to game.

“We've played well this year against some very tough competition,” said Mustain. “We came out a little shell-shocked in the first half against East Coweta, but we played very aggressively and even in the second half.”

The Lady Indians start five seniors, while the Lady Tigers have two returning starters from last year's team.

Both Anne Hancock and Kara Davis played well for Fayette County Friday. Hancock had a lot of good plays and a few three pointers and Davis played well against East Coweta's top player, Trishica Evans, holding her to 13 points on the night.

The Lady Tigers are a much different team from last year, but there are strengths that weren't there on last year's squad. This team is quicker and more athletic and the entire team has been able to play in all four games. In their game against Newnan, the Lady Tigers had 11 scorers.

Their goal for right now is to get more experience and have fun. The Lady Tigers will have their first two home games of the year this Tuesday and Friday. They will host the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots Tuesday and LaGrange Friday.

Saturday, Fayette County will travel to Starr's Mill.
