High Noon Toastmasters, Club 5834, a local club of Toastmasters International, is proud to announce that Paulette J. Bass, a member with developmental disabilities, reaches Competent Communicator status on March 25, 2008. The Competent Communicator course requires a Toatmaster to develop and deliver ten speeches covering a variety of subjects, each increasing in length. The final speech in this series is an Inspirational Speech, in which the presenter's goal is to insprire the listener. The length is between 8 to 10 minutes. Persons without disabilities have difficulties completing this series. For Paulette Bass to complete this series with her handicapping condition is remarkable. Research with Toastmasters International World Headquarters indicate that she is the first person with disabilites to reach this status.
