PTC getting first tattoo parlorTue, 02/19/2008 - 4:42pm
By: John Munford
A businessman is set to open Peachtree City’s first tattoo parlor, called Area 54 Tattoos, in the Peachtree Crossings East shopping center, which also features a Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s. Rodney Pendleton of Villa Rica is the listed owner of record of the business, according to city records. Earlier this month the City Council passed a slate of regulations on tattoo parlors in the city, but none of them will immediately affect Area 54 Tattoos. Some will go into effect Feb. 7 of next year and the zoning-related regulations will only apply to Area 54 if it moves from its current location. By Feb. 7, 2009, the business must all tattooing done by or under the supervision of a licensed physician or osteopath. Also, by that date, the business can only be open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The city’s new tattoo regulations also require that patrons be provided a private area when they are being worked on, and also that certain health guidelines are met such as having a sink with hot and cold water for artists’ use to clean themselves and their patrons. The city is also restricting future tattoo parlors to being located only on parcels zoned for light industrial use, which would preclude them from being located in retail shopping centers. login or register to post comments
