HBO's JOHN ADAMS- What if it happened today?

If you are not Tivo'ing this program, please do so. It's an inspiring and dramatic history lesson dealing with the birth of our nation.

I'm no expert on John Adams, but if History is at all close to the rendition they are presenting, then I'm extremely moved by what I've seen so far.

Makes me proud, very proud to be from the US of KKA.

I just wonder, what the political arguments we'd be hearing if we took the three main candidates that we have now, and placed them in 1775. I wonder what they would say.

Would the Democrats have chosen to fight for our own independence? The King merely taxed us without representation. Well the Dems want confiscatory taxation on the wealthy and they want the bottom half of all voters to pay no taxes.

The KING protected us from the Indians and French, but controlled the economy for our own good.

I can hear her pleas, "Give the peasants Free Health Care or Give them Death?" Nah. She might though run to be the Queen.

Anyway, I just hope you will get a chance to watch this very interesting adaptation. Its fascinating.

I have not seen the HBO thing, but I read and reread McCollugh's book and it was great. I actually wished I had lived back then instead of now - except for the lack of indoor plumbing, I guess.

But, to my point. What would happen if the Adams, Jefferson, Madison group time-travelled to today? What they would see in the transportation, technology and building world would amaze them, What they would see in the government world would make them puke.

Ain't no way our bunch could manage the 1700s and ain't no way the 1700s bunch could manage our time!

I have never followed that kind of thinking, but I do think about what the 2300s will look like!

The technology discoveries will be exponential of course, but what about the management of humans; the racial situation; the division of "classes;" and morals and principles?

What the 1700s people would see in today's world would amaze them of course, but that is an impossibility and we wouldn't really want to live like those slave-holding, class oriented, 90%--10% people---Poor and rich!
