Superman: Sandy Creek's Christian Taylor sets state records at Georgia OlympicsFri, 05/09/2008 - 2:17pm
By: The Citizen
He's not a bird, nor is he a plane. His name is Christian Taylor, and he's the owner of two new Georgia track and field records. Taylor, a senior at Sandy Creek, set all-classification state records in the triple jump and long jump Thursday at the Georgia Olympics. His leap of 52 feet, 6 1/2 inches was nearly a foot longer than the old triple jump record, and it was the first 52-foot triple jump by a high school athlete in Georgia and the longest by a high school athlete in the nation this season. Taylor also reached 25-6 in the long jump, marking the first time a Georgia high school athlete reached the 25-foot mark and is the second-longest jump by a high schooler in the nation this season. Taylor, a Florida signee, will compete today in the 400 meters. login or register to post comments
