Spalding County Drivers - GO HOME!

I have lived about a mile south of Woolsey for nearly my entire life. The drivers of Spalding county have earned a reputation with family, friends, and random observant people.

Within the past couple of months, the number of cars for Spalding (and Pike) have doubled. It was a serious increase in traffic. So now, on my 10 mile drive up to Fayetteville, I can count on driving somewhere between 40 and 52.7 MPH.

Does anyone have any idea why these people, who live SO FAR from their destination, insist on driving so *@#$%^& slow?!

Your right it seems everyone now uses Brooks - Woolsey to get to Fayetteville and they are either 10 mph under or 20 over..

But Please keep in mind except for Hwy 92 & 85 the other roads do have a limit of 45, 35 & 25.
It seems they think Brooks is an extension of Atlanta Motor Speedway
Hwy 85 Connector has a 45mph speed and they run 60 plus there.

Why because Senoia & Hwy 16 will not tolerate speeding.

It's probably because of the cost of the *@#$%^& gasoline.

I promise you its not the cost of gas, as this trend is NOTHING NEW. It is rare that you get a driver from said counties to even get close to 55 mph.

That being said, even I have reduced my speed quite a bit. But gas is going to have to triple before you see me going under 55 on 92.

Please stay in Spalding county... PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever considered how much time you save by going
55 instead of 45 mph? Let us assume 20 miles. It ain't much!

The problem is you hate to follow!

During WW2 the speed limit was 35mph, period.

I don't currently have any "A" rationing coupons.
I believe that was a sticker for the windshield allowing you to buy three gallons a week.
There was a "C" and an "X" also.

The biggest supplier of gas however were those guys with a five foot limber rubber hose and a jug! Blackmarket meat was also available on the sly, depending what could be stolen (rustled) the night before and slaughtered!
Crooking was small-time in those days---big-time now.
