1. The officers did the design work on their own time and own dime, not at work. In fact there are a lot of things that officers have done for the betterment of the police department and the city on their own time and without requesting compensation.

2. That's the point. It's called The Thin Blue Line. Huh, kinda catchy dontcha think??? I think the new design beats that old, busy looking mess that's on the older cars.

3. So far, let's see...from what I hear things have been changing. That little investigation into the officer that was so "Hush, Hush" came to an abrupt end. They have moved to the 12 hour shift to better serve the community. The officers have more say in what is done, how it's done, and where the department is going as a whole. This was not done when Jim Murray was here. It was his way or the highway. Believe it or not, most of the officers have stopped putting there resumes out to find another place to work and are actually enjoying their jobs now.

4. Well, the "To Protect and To Serve" is the actual 'old school' motto. Jim Murray always wanted the "To Serve and Protect" since he thought it sounded better, almost like he meant it or something. Believe it or not your police officers actually enjoy being police officers and do their work because they feel that it's doing some sort of good...

...as for the developers, to heck with 'em. They have nothing to do with the police department or public safety. Take your angry diatribe elsewhere when bringing that up.

Don't be angry with your police officers. It takes baby steps to eventually be able to run. The officers I've spoken to actually like the new design. It looks good and makes them feel like they has a say in how things were done. That never would have happened under the Murray regime. You can at least admit that.

We have lost so many good cops over the last couple of years. It is a shame. I hope that will stop for awhile.

I wish they didn't have to work 12hour shifts. But, if they like it, that is good. It just seems so long, and physically exhausting.

Gee, let's see. New cars need the markings, per OCGA (Official Code of Georgia Annotated) (uh, the law), that conform to the code section regarding the use of emergency vehicles. So...with new cars you have a new design, with a new design you just change the graphics which was done off the clock, you spend the same amount for the new graphics you would have spent for the old graphics...equals...no difference than if they had used the old graphics.

What a novel concept!

Dalton Russell--I appreciate your responses with answers to some questions. I, as a tax-paying citizen of the community have every right to ask what the new design was costing the city. No where in the original article did it state that the new design was only going on new vehicles. Right now, when we are all facing increases in everything from food, fuel, taxes,etc., as well as the boondoggle with the police station (we have no idea what this will cost us in the end) it is only prudent to want to know where our money is going. I am all for things that make people feel good about their jobs as I am sure the new design does, but still feel it is my right as a citizen to ask about expenditures without getting sarcasm. Why so touchy?

Read the post above you. This is a stupid comment. So were the other ones griping about the cost. They are going to put graphics on new cars that they get anyway, I doubt there is any difference from what it cost to put the other ones on there. Why do people insist on making these types of comments? It's just a senseless shot at the city management, police, other officials or whatever. It really just makes you look stupid, not them. Go argue a valid point - I'm sure there are plenty of them to find if you want to dabble in political commenting.
