Unfortunately, my neighborhood is right across the street from Harmony Village. I can tell you that the cops are over there, as well as ambulances, everyday. They also have an officer that lives there (cheap/free rent to patrol, I was told. I had kids at Oak Grove in 94, and I have one there now as well and believe me, there were times that the school was over run with the brats from that place. They have so many problems, they have their own bus.

We have had so many things stolen from our yard by them it's kind of a joke now. Anything that's not nailed down is gone! Bikes, scooters, solar lights (yes, even those!) and especially basketballs. So, as you can tell, I have no affinity for that place at all, I agree that it should be bulldozed and the section 8 crowd sent somewhere else.

Just read the crime blotter in the paper...Peachtree Station Circle is the address and count how many times it's in there over a couple of weeks. And manof war...I don't think anyone here feels that living in PTC makes them a more valuable human, but we moved here and bought homes so that our families could be safe from this kind of stuff. I loved the cleanliness here, the schools, the recreation, the cart paths, etc. And yes, to get away from lower class people that want to take what we have worked so hard to attain. Call it white flight, or whatever you want to call it. We have blacks in our neighborhood, they are in almost all neighborhoods...they are not the problem. I have no problem with people that take care of their homes and respect the property of others, no matter their color. But it would take a blind person not to see that most (I didn't say all) of the crimes being committed in this county are by blacks, most probably from outside Fayette County.

Any white that has worked his/her way up through the ranks having little more than a High School diploma has become known as the white “Blue Collar Worker”. When a realization of knowing less, while minutely understanding words being stated by a person of color is threatening, it also makes one feel unstable and causes panic. Especially, when the words are of eloquence and enunciated correctly.

Relying on personal hubris and what you have been taught, many swear by and stick with the rankers their parents drilled into them (Blacks Hispanics and People of color are inferior). The given has always been that these people are animal like and there is NO possible way they will ever be of vital importance or have any substance! When this has been a staple in your life you become dismayed when you find out this is not true.

Convenient crutches have become the norm; Stereotypes & Hyperbole are the conversation and text of this group. You cannot have a conversation based on issues and substantive facts because the whole group in any circle will result to a mantra of stereotypical chants interruption and hyperbole!

Actual Issue # 1 people are losing their homes, jobs, war.
Bias change the issue into they do not work they are lazy, on welfare. Send criminals to war.

Their vocabulary consists of ‘grouping’ words used to demean thugs, hip hop, 9th ward, illegitimate, out of wedlock, welfare, food stamps, Katrina, baby mama, etc.

While younger educated people are less likely to hold these biases older educated folks also do not rely on such inadequate information. Knowledge the voice of reason is creeping in the fewer illiterate people in positions of power makes it less likely hyperbole & stereotypical bias can prevail much longer. Most are educated enough and tired of the ignorant rants. It seems to be dying!

All of the apartment complexes in the city have courtesy officers, meaning PCPD officers who pay less rent than other residents of the complex, in exchange for being the go-to guy for minor issues, and for keeping an eye out for problems. Of course, they can't be everywhere at once, so things will still happen.

Just wanted to let you know that HV is not a special case in this area.

Is it "free" or is it a discount?

If it is either one, is it ethical? What is a go to guy? When?

Are free meals or anything else involved at restaurants?

Are any of them married to the Governor's sister?

911 calls would drop by half.

Yeah, don't bet on it. Because believe it or not, there are relatively few 911 calls coming from HV compared to other areas. I'd venture to say there are way more 911 calls coming from PTC citizens about the water dept flushing the hydrants, or someone parked with one tire on the grass, or a dead deer on the side of Hwy 54 or Hwy 74, or a non-aggressive dog loose, or a car with out-of-state plates parked at the playground, or a turtle/lizard/rat snake/possum in the backyard, or a non-white person walking down the side of the road.

And did you notice that one of those involved/charged wasn't even from HV? Timberlay... that is considered a "good" subdivision, ya know. So where do you stop the bulldozer?

I don't care how many calls 911 gets about anything but I do care if it is a rape, etc. The dead deer on HWY 54, it's gonna happen, but I can assure you that the PTC police or Fayette County Police are going to attend to the rape victim before attending to the dead deer. And I love animals but HUMANS come first. Are you that STUPID?

You made the association of HV with too many 911 calls, not me. I was just responding to your misconception that it is a hot-bed of emergency calls. It is not. But hey, at least they know how to properly use 911, right? Call when it is an actual emergency?

Of course humans come first. Duh. Officers shouldn't have to respond to those other types of calls, at all. I guess we should be glad we live where the crime rate is so low that they can. (And, btw, the only thing an officer would do with a deer on Highway 54 or 74 is make sure it isn't blocking the road and make sure it is dead. After that, it is the road dept's problem... either the state on the highways, or the locals everywhere else.)

..has been on Oak Grove Elementary. Ask the teachers, staff and parents that were around pre-HV and afterwards about all the problems. It definitely changed Oak Grove and not for the better. No school can absorb a bunch of students with little to no interest in learning, behavioral problems, parent(s) that could care less, already behind, etc. etc. without being drug down some.

The call volume at HV isn't likely that high because a lot of the renters come from the mentality of "no snitching" and distrust of law enforcement and prefer to stay away from the 5-0 instead of asking for help.

I know these people and it is a complete tragedy. Their lives have completely been changed from that day forward. How do you not just walk away and let them cry for a minute? I am heartbroken.

Lets go back to the 96' Olympics. They had a plan to build a big new High rise apartment building for the athletes, but just one thing stood in the way, Techwood Homes! One of Atlanta's biggest eyesores and something that they would love to get rid of. They decided to tear down Techwood and build these two big nice buildings, but what to do with all of these poor law abiding citizens. Along comes Steve Black with an idea, lets file with the Government for section 8 housing for harmony village and move them on down to good ol PTC. Maybe by putting them down there the citizens of PTC can reform em and then the city of Atlanta won't have to put up with them during the Olympics, you know with the world watching and all. So down they came, Atlanta was happy, Steve Black was happy and the people of Techwood homes were happy. Looks like everybody was happy, but the citizens of PTC (the ones footing the bill). And everybody lived happily ever after, HA! There is your Grimm's fairy tail for the night, Good night everyone and sleep tight.

Steve Black (and probably his keeper Doug Mitchell) and Alex Thompson who made a fortune on the deal brought us the sewer that has now been renamed Harmony Village.

Why can't Cal or John get them to comment on the questionable land sale that was made for this horrible trashy project? 1994 or 5 was the year and the sales price (which the Mitchell-Black duo needed for their purchase of the Equitable property) is public record. As Yogi Berra said - you can look it up. So do it. And follow up. Get the whole story. Denials and "won't comment" crap indicates guilt or liability. Go after it Cal - don't be a wimp.
