I prayed for George W's continued health and well being the entire time that he was president, because as bad of a president as he was for this country that I love, Cheney would have made him look like Mr. Rogers. The way that corporate governance was set up was a decent system, but it has been co-opted. The Corporate Board of Directors was to be the watchdog of the shareholders and to ensure that the Management did not make poor decisions. But what has evolved is that Corporate Management is sitting on other Company's Boards, or have cozy relationships. Thus the Boards have become rubber stamps for whatever the management presents them. Including big, fat wage and incentive plans.

Because the fix is in. Have you ever tried to lead a proxy fight as a shareholder? Since there are large institutional investors who are also on Boards, it has become very dicey. I agree, show me where the government should be setting wage and price controls- oh wait, they do that every day--minimum wage, etc. I don't have a good plan to fix corporate compensation, not a big fan of the government doing it, but it ties into the interstate commerce clause much better than the law against guns in school zones do.

but just where does it stop.. Oh I know .. it is easy to demonize execs making 7-digits.. but I don't believe the Gov will stop there.. next will be all businesses that have gov contracts.. then any supplier.. etc.. afterall it affects the taxpayer..Any time the gov interferes with the free market NOTHING good comes from it..History has shown us this.. and History will not look kind on this in the future..
