PTC police: don’t leave valuables in carFri, 06/12/2009 - 2:19pm
By: John Munford
Peachtree City police are encouraging residents to stow valuables in their vehicles out of sight. Owners of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles are particularly asked to use caution, as criminals are using a tool to “punch” the door locks to gain entry to the vehicle, police said. In some cases owners may not even realize items have been taken from their car, police added. Police are also looking for a silver mid-sized sedan that may be connected to two such cases. The sedan, an unknown make or model, was captured on surveillance footage Wednesday morning as two vehicles were entered, police said. One of the vehicles entered was a Ford F250 Super Duty truck and the other was a Ford Expedition. Residents are being asked to hide or take inside their laptops, laptop cases, GPS units, purses, wallets, cash, handheld gaming devices and the like. That’s because criminals often decide to break into a car based on the loot they can see inside, officials have said. login or register to post comments
