Bank merger complete

Synovus, the Columbus, Georgia-based diversified financial services company announced the completion of the merger of three Synovus banks in metro Atlanta - First Nation Bank, based in Covington, Georgia and Peachtree National Bank, based in Peachtree City merged with Bank of North Georgia, headquartered in Alpharetta. The combined banks are using the Bank of North Georgia name.

Take the "drive" to Greenville

On Sunday, July 1, I decided to get in my car and travel up I-85 to Greenville, SC. I wanted to see the ball park that some had called a “mini Fenway” and the Greenville Drive, a single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox (my favorite team). If I went on this particular day I would also get to see Sandy Creek graduate Brent Brewer play. Brewer is the starting shortstop for the West Virginia Power, a single A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Campers learn to ASPIRE

Several weeks this summer students with special educational needs are participating in art projects, gym class, scrap-booking, and other activities to enrich their social skills. The ASPIRE (After School Program Inclusive Recreational Educational) Camp, located within the sprightly halls of the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville, provides an affirming, cheerful atmosphere for around 60 children, ages four to 21, to learn to relate better to themselves and their friends in a fun, creative way.
