Garry Allen Dailey, 78, of Peachtree City, Ga. died Monday March 3rd at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. He was born June 1st, 1935, in Fargo, N.D., the oldest of three children born to Stanley and Lillian (Hendrickson) Dailey. He grew up in Fargo and raised his family in Moorhead, Minn.

He married A. Geraldine Anderson on December 28, 1955. They have 3 children: Roger (Betsy) Dailey, Portland, Ore; Pam (Kurt) von Rosenberg, Mission, Texas; Judi (Peter) Tufte, Lake Wedowee, Ala. They have 7 grandchildren: MacKenzie and Spencer Dailey; Jason, Jaret, and Korby von Rosenberg; Lyndsi (Mitch) Tufte Paumen and Landon Tufte.

He was inducted into the Army on February 2, 1956, where he served as a medical corpsman and played trumpet in the Army band. He enjoyed a 45 year career as an Optician. He began with Bausch and Lomb before moving to Harold’s Optical in Fargo. Next, he spent several years with Sinkler Optical before he and his wife opened their own business in Fargo; Garry’s Opticians.

In 2009, Garry and Geri moved to Peachtree City, Ga. They attend Christ our Shepherd Lutheran Church. Garry continued to enjoy furniture refinishing, reading, and listening to his music until his recent hospitalization.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger sister Joyce. He is survived by his loving wife, Geri, his 3 children, 7 grandchildren and his sister Patricia (Terry) Kramer and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Concordia College Music Department, or Christ the King Lutheran Church Youth Programs, both located in Moorhead, Minn.

A memorial service was held Friday March 7th at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City, Ga.
