On Wednesday September 10, 2014 Manuel “Hamby” Adams passed from this world following complications from lung cancer.

Born to Mary (Adams) Owens and James Arthur Adams on June 23, 1938 in Haralson County, Ga., Hamby loved growing up in a small town where everyone knows your name and friendships come easily. Hamby kept that kind spirit with him every day of his life.

Following his Bremen High School graduation in 1958, Hamby soon found the one and only love of his life – Narvell Morgan and married her in February 1961. Within that first year, the draft took the newlyweds to Lawton, Okla. where Hamby served in the US Army until 1963. Life was not easy but it was a wonderful time none-the-less with the birth of their first of three sons, Manuel Anthony “Tony” Adams in 1962. This young family returned to East Point in Atlanta where Hamby worked at the Ford Motor Co. in Hapeville. January 1965, Morgan “Alan” Adams was born followed by James “Mark” Adams in 1968.

The Adams Family moved to Peachtree City in 1973 where Hamby took a job working for UPS then for the city in the Public Works Department. He loved his job, his neighbors and his family of faith at First Baptist Church PTC. After 25 years of service to the city, Hamby and Narvell retired and moved to Newnan, Ga. Hamby enjoyed his morning paper, bottomless cups of coffee, square dancing, camping, golf, his mountain home in Hiawassee, telling you a good story and most of all his family.

Hamby was preceded in death by his parents and his son Alan.

Hamby is survived by his bride Narvell of 53 years; sister Mary Ellen “Adams” and Donald Kimbrough of Douglasville; younger brother James “Butch” and Marilyn Adams of Lawrenceville; son Tony and Natalie Adams of Cumming; son Mark and Jennifer Adams of Newnan and 4 grandchildren – Alison and Samuel Adams of Cumming and Shelby and Morgan Adams of Newnan.

A Celebration of Life memorial service was held 2 p.m. Saturday September 27th at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, 38 Jackson St. The family would prefer donations be made to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be expressed online at www.mckoon.com
